Preamble to the initiative questionnaire on Michaelites.org
In German, as in other European and Slavic languages, the words „initiative“ and „initiation“ etymologically go back to the common Latin verb initiare, which means both „to begin“ and „to initiate“. In the course of historical development, however, the meanings of these words have diverged. Spiritual science leads us back to their original meaning. Rudolf Steiner's words bear witness to this:
„This is something that should always stand before the soul of the anthroposophist as if with golden letters, that he has initiative lying in his karma, and that much of what he encounters in life depends on the extent to which he can consciously become aware of this initiative.“ (GA237)
A simple and clear meaning emerges from this: for the Michaelite, the path of initiation is not possible without taking the initiative.
Through its webinars, seminars, conferences and meetings, the Michaelite.org project ecosystem endeavours to create a supportive space in which Michaelite initiatives can introduce themselves, receive support from an emerging community and build partnership connections.
The crisis that is evident in various directions of anthroposophical initiatives and that calls for overcoming has its roots both in their isolation and in a detachment from the initiation principle as the essential meaning of their work. Only by shaping a common spiritual-practical field of the most diverse initiatives - of different kinds and fields of activity - is it possible to counter the increasing influence of Ahrimanic forces and pave the way for the culmination of anthroposophy in the world.
We invite all initiatives - small and large, those that have been active for many years as well as those that are taking their first steps, those that belong to traditional anthroposophical directions or those that have emerged from new Michaelite impulses for co-operation.
We look forward to working together under the leadership of Christus-Michael-Vidar!
