Europafest Initiative / Europe Festival Initiative

Description:

During the Easter period, thanks to the generous invitation from our host, we, as the organisers of the initiative, were comfortably accommodated in Heringsdorf on Usedom, on the Baltic Sea coast in the north-eastern corner of Germany. There, as a small group of six people, we celebrated Easter but also wrestled with how best to move forward with our larger, Europe-wide project… In doing so, we are making a start on realising our far-reaching idea of holding these four annual festivals in the four corners of Europe. Of course, we cannot all take part in every annual festival. However, we would like to keep them in our collective consciousness. Over the next eight years, we intend to try, through these Europe-wide celebrations of the annual festivals (other festivals may also be added), to awaken a new European identity based on the spiritual foundation of the annual festivals…. We also very much hope that a Nordic St John’s Festival, celebrated there as always so wonderfully and musically, will take place in Norway at the end of June. In England, we are in the process of organising a Michaelmas festival focusing on Kaspar Hauser on the grounds of Ruskin Mill near Stroud. Naturally, people from all over Europe are warmly invited. Some people from Germany have even already made plans to travel to England. Then, for the Advent season, we are looking forward to organising a Christmas festival near Munich, which will then be kept in the consciousness of the Europe Festival Initiative. During Eastertide, thanks to the generous invitation of our host, we as the bearers of the initiative were warmly accommodated on the Baltic Sea coast in the north-eastern corner of Germany, in Heringsdorf on Usedom. There, as a small group of six people, we celebrated Easter together, but also grappled with the question of how best to move our larger Europe-wide project forward…. In this way, we are taking the first steps towards our ambitious plan to realise these four seasonal festivals in the four cardinal directions of Europe. Of course, we cannot all take part in every festival, but we wish to hold them together in our shared consciousness. Over the next eight years, through this Europe-wide celebration of the seasonal festivals (to which further festivals may also be added), we hope to awaken a new European identity founded on the soul-spiritual basis of the festivals of the year…. We also very much hope that in Norway, at the end of June, a Nordic St John’s festival can take place, celebrated there in such a wonderful and musical way. In England, we are working on organising a Michaelmas festival with a focus on Kaspar Hauser at Ruskin Mill near Stroud. Naturally, people from all over Europe are warmly invited to attend. Several people from Germany have already decided to travel to England.

I am looking for:

We wish to follow up on the above initiative with a small music festival in Norway. Due to external circumstances, we have unfortunately fallen a little behind schedule. If you would like to participate or help with the organisation, please contact us. We are particularly in need of a venue with a stage to be able to hold this.

I offer:

We offer close collaboration as part of the above-mentioned project, with the aim of conveying Nordic culture within a European context. In principle, we are unable to offer direct payment for the work, but possibly good food and a convivial, atmospheric get-together.
